Recipients are announced during HIMSS08 in Orlando at the Microsoft Booth, #2247, on Monday, Feb. 25, at 5:30 pm. An updated press release will be available after the announcement.

This year's MS-HUG Health Innovation Awards accepted nominations from healthcare organizations around their innovative use of technology solutions to solve major business or clinical issues. These nominations can be driven by the ISV who developed the technology solution, the SI who helped implement the solution, or the healthcare organization itself. Understanding that technology partners like ISVs and SIs are behind successful industry solutions, recognition will be given to both the winning customer and partner in the case that both are involved.

 

 

What are the MS-HUG Healthcare Innovation Awards?
Healthcare organizations are uniquely positioned to improve the quality and delivery of healthcare through evidence-based medical innovations and smart technology solutions. The MS-HUG Healthcare Innovation Awards, now in its eleventh year, is an opportunity to showcase how your organization and your customer’s organization, is using technology to enhance and transform the quality of patient care, reduce costs, streamline clinical and business processes, drive interoperability, improve productivity and workflow, and enable informed decisions.

The MS-HUG Healthcare Innovation Awards are presented annually to the healthcare organization and technology solutions partner—with which it has collaborated—that best demonstrates industry leadership in using technology to achieve innovation excellence in each of the following categories:

• Clinical Records – Inpatient
• Clinical Records – Ambulatory
• Delivery Transformation
• Disease Surveillance
• Interoperability
• Outcomes Reporting

How will Entries Be Judged?
The awards committee will accept nominations from any healthcare organization worldwide, which has developed and implemented a solution independently or worked with a technology solutions partner, as long as the solution is based on Microsoft technologies.

Entries will be judged primarily on the following three criteria:

1. The innovation represents a breakthrough from the industry’s historical approaches.
2. The innovation goes beyond incremental improvements on technologies that already exist.
3. The innovation measurably improves significant business and/or clinical processes that positively impact patient care.

Why Should You Enter?

• Cross-industry recognition for both the healthcare organization and technology solutions partner, as leaders in technology innovation.
• Opportunity as a finalist (three finalists in each category) to present your solution in detail to the panel of judges, which includes influential members of the media and industry analysts.
• Broad awareness for winners and finalists through supporting news release, online content, Microsoft sponsored national advertisement, and media interviews.
• An award specific logo (separate logo for finalists and winners in each category) that can be leveraged in related marketing materials, conferences, and trade shows.
• Winners and finalists will receive guidance from Microsoft on how to promote themselves.
• Winners have option to rotate in an MS-HUG Healthcare Innovation Award kiosk in the Microsoft booth at HIMSS 2008.
• Winners will have the option to present a track session at the Fall 2008 MS-HUG Tech Forum.
• Winners will be awarded the coveted MS-HUG Healthcare Innovation Awards Trophy presented at the Microsoft Booth theater during the HIMSS 2008 conference.

How to Enter and More Information

1. Review the Official Entry Form and Rules & Regulations from the MS-HUG Healthcare Innovation Awards website at www.mshug.org/awards.  All entries must be submitted on-line.
2. Once completed, BOTH healthcare organization and technology solution partner must sign the completed Release Form (last page of entry document) and fax to 425-645-2020.  Please note: Your submission will not be considered unless the Release Form is faxed in.
3. Submission deadline is December 10, 2007 at 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time. After this date, all entries and content will be considered final.
